Hands-on activities for the Fascination Model Railway Mannheim

At Faszination Modellbahn Mannheim, you can not only see and buy, but also actively participate in the model railroad hobby.
You can find out what is on offer – suitable for young people and adults – here:
Model Railway Junior College Europe from the BDEF, stand no. 1190
At Junior-College Europa, children and young people are introduced to model railroads at sensibly sequenced stations by building and playing independently. Under the guidance of experienced model builders from the model railroad club at the Thoma-Mann-Gymnasium in Stutensee, they make their own small diorama and learn everything they need to know to creatively design their own layout – all at eye level: by young people for young people. Meanwhile, parents can take a relaxed stroll through the halls. Afterwards, everyone can take their diorama home with them, all free of charge thanks to the generous support of the trade fair and model railroad manufacturers such as Auhagen, Faller, Greenkeeper and Piko!
At the LEGO table with the track circle for the clamp building block cars, everyone can give free rein to their creativity and build the craziest vehicles or put together exciting tracks on the wooden train and play on them extensively.
Viessmann – kibri and Vollmer handicraft garden, stand no. 1318
In the Viessmann – kibri – Vollmer handicraft garden, visitors will be given practical professional tips for working with vehicle and building kits as well as articles from the Vollmer stone art series. Gebr. märklin & Cie GmbH, Stand no. 1330
At märklin, children and young people can play with the “my world” product line for children aged 3 and over and with the “Start Up” product line for children aged 7 and over and get to know the märklin world!
Eisenbahnfreunde Mannheim, stand no. 1566
The Eisenbahnfreunde Mannheim e.V. has set itself the task of bringing children and young people closer to the subject of railroads as a preventative measure, an important component of our association’s work is also to bring the dangers of railroad facilities closer.
We will build a Fischertechnik module in combination with a garden railroad, how does pneumatics work? The nostalgic miniature carousel from 1956 will be there and there will be a craft activity.
To mark this special occasion, every child who visits our stand will receive a free children’s ticket for the largest reptile zoo in Germany, the Reptilium Landau. We look forward to welcoming you.
MEC Waiblingen, Stand no. 1662
Members of the MEC Waiblingen e.V. are happy to give helpful tips on designing and making models, landscapes, buildings and wagon loads.
They will also be happy to answer any questions you may have about digital control and drive technology. Young visitors can get active in the craft corner and assemble a plastic kit and then creatively integrate it into a model landscape. The environment is designed with various materials to create an individual scenery.
Aichner craft corner, stand no. 1760
As has been the case in Friedrichshafen for many years, the Aichner handicraft corner will also be present in Mannheim for the second time, so that all children / young people and their parents can assemble trains or similar models of their choice directly at the trade fair stand under expert guidance, there will even be some sample models to choose from – as in the past, the main materials to be processed are woods of various kinds, mostly selected balsa plywood, ice cream sticks, cardboard, etc..
The children usually glue with UHU White Glue EXPRESS, the youngsters also use UHU HART, scroll saws, cutting knives, pins, masking tape and “child-friendly” sanding blocks are used, even the theoretical lessons in handicrafts are carefully cultivated – a very important domain at the Aichner handicraft corner – because after all, with 55 years of building experience in functional model making, you can and should be able to pass something on!
For example, all the models on display have already been tried and tested many times, and you can take them home with you as replica treasures!
A special, elaborately crafted diorama of ancient LEGO tracks with matching accessories rounds off the eye-catcher – after all, you can’t resist tinkering!
